TanTerra wines
are handcrafted cuvees of the Uruguayan
variety, Tannat, from the celebrated
appellation of San Jose. The name is
derived from a combination of “Tan” from
the word Tannat, which itself is derived
from the word tannins, and “Terra”,
which is Latin for “earth”.
TanTerra is owned by three partners,
wine lovers that found surprise and
intrigue when they discovered Tannat and
the unheralded terroir of Uruguay. In
conjunction with the vintner partners,
the TanTerra Wines are estate-grown and
handcrafted by a family that boasts a
long family history of viticulture and
oenological tradition in Uruguay.
Sustainable farming and winemaking
practices result in minimal handling and
authentic expressions of this heretofore
unknown terroir. Far from the reach of
industry and urban sprawl, these ancient
vineyards are located in one of the
purest environments on earth in which
fine wine grapes are grown. The TanTerra
wines deliver the complexity, elegance
and finesse of vibrant, exciting New
World wines. |
